Barclays Bank, Commercial Street, Sheffield

Jaguar Estates are delighted to announce that a deal has been secured with HLW – the expanding Sheffield based legal practice.

The project will consist of refurbishing the 25,000 Square feet landmark former Barclays Headquarters, situated on Commercial Street in Sheffield city centre. The building will become a prestigious new Headquarters for the legal firm.

Knight Frank have acted for HLW in the freehold purchase. Atlas Refurbishment (Northern) Ltd will complete the facelift and re-fit on behalf of Jaguar Estates with completion scheduled for October 2006.

The former Dixons building on Fargate soon to be a River Island flagship store seems to be speeding away behind the scenes!

D'ya know - our city centre is gonna be so f'king cool in 1-2 years time, even without the NRQ.

I'm sure we all agree that Manchester/Leeds are considerably better than Sheffield for shopping, but i personally believe we may one day have the edge.

Things seem to be getting done with a lot more thought and originality in recent times.

Manc' has some very nice shops, but i wouldn't say it's anywhere near as attractive as Sheffield (sorry any Manc' readers)

Once we get Harvey Nichs in and hopefully some other quality stores such as Flannels etc we'll be up there with the best.

It's good to see some more large retailers coming into the centre (small unique ones would be good too). Once River Island & H&M have opened, Fargate should be quite a decent shopping street.

I'm not sure, but I guess this is the right place for this. SCC have won a bit for 86 mill. to replace or upgrade every street light in Sheffield.

But the dark pollution on the masonary prevents you from seeing the detail.

Has anyone been past this building recently? I'm sure last time I went past there was a large rendered image over the scaffolding, except rather than having a picture of the completed building it showed a picture of the current building covered in scaffolding...

That has got to be the work of an evil genius.

Shouldn't the cathedral renovation be 'god news'?

:-)
