The atkinsons building has got approval for recladding. Here it is:

To be honest, it's not to bad. Better then the wrapping of grey cladding that was proposed previously atleast. But I have one serious issue with it. IT'S ONLY GETTING RECLAD ON THE CHARTER ROW SIDE!!!

If the rest of the building isn't redeveloped (preferably including demolision), then it's gonna look crap compared to the new Moor buildings.

Maybe they have plans for the moor side once the rest of the moor buildings are being built or even built, to keep it in line with the new Moor?

Have you noticed that they have started boarding up the empty buildings at the bottom of the moor? soon it will be a ghost town.

Atkinsons reclad looks good, but a cafe on Charter Row? No thanks!

As discussed, maybe they're waiting for the Moor redesign before recladding that side. I wonder how trade will go for them now the Moor is dying off?

Deacon House reclad looked good. Are they putting retail in the bottom, or just making it glass so it looks prettier?

There is a lot of passing trade on Charter Row though, and a lot of people use those bus stops, so a cafe might not be such a bad idea. And with the offices and BT over the road, there could be a lot of business for it.

Decon house isn't gonna have retail on the bottom. It's gonna be office's and nice glass.

Interesting. Perhaps the approval of an 'adequate' reclad of just one side of the building was to keep Atkinsons happy whilst trade dies down a bit. Its already getting a bit quite down that end of the Moor. Perhaps the council were worried they'd throw a strop. Not sure what they'd do though.

£9m Arundel Gate regeneration plan

A £9 million refurbishment scheme which aims to transform a former YEB building in Sheffield city centre could spark more substantial regeneration of the lower side of Arundel Gate.
Tim Bottrill, agency and development partner at the Sheffield office of Knight Frank, joint agents for the scheme with GVA Grimley, said the project could trigger further regeneration.

The 38,000 sq ft Oneleven office development at the Castle Square end of Arundel Gate is being undertaken by Simonsig Investments and is scheduled for completion in mid-November.

Hugh Miller, managing director of Simonsig's parent group, Boschendal Property Group, says Oneleven will create a key bridge between the current developments in the heart of the city and those which are now under way at The Markets.

The project takes its name from the fact that it stretches from Number 1 to Number 11 Arundel Gate. "Available Grade A space in such key locations is scarce and yet
demand from blue-chip companies to locate to Sheffield is increasing because of the good transport links, relatively low rents, the well educated workforce that can be tapp ed from Sheffield's excellent universities and the burgeoning prestige of the regenerated city centre," said Mr Miller.

"Oneleven epitomises the overall renaissance that Sheffield city centre is currently enjoying and promises to be pivotal in the rejuvenation of the Castle Square area," Mr Miller added.

Mr Miller believes that owners of nearby properties will follow Boschendal's lead once they see the completed transformation of the old YEB building.

Mr Bottrill added: "The Oneleven development signifies a new dimension in the commercial development of Sheffield city centre and paves the way for more substantial regeneration of the lower side of Arundel Gate, which has always offered prime location potential."

I noticed it was under wraps the other day!

Is this simple reclad, or are they redoing the inside and/or generating retail units?
