Park Hyatt Saadiyat Island

Back to basics: We love this lamp from IM Interior Decoration LLC.

Lying low: These neutral and stylish sun-lounger and sun umbrella sets help create a relaxed vibe around the pool
area.

Towel tidy: Every pool area needs a towel caddy, and this one does just the job.

Green team: Landscaping contractor Citiscape Nurseries, Abu Dhabi, supplied the plantation, much of which is
native to the region.

Keep cool: These pool shades supplied by Citishade, sister company of Citiscape, Abu Dhabi, are easy on the
eye and practical.

Child's play: Italian firm Holzof supplied this cute and compact play centre.

Winter warmers: These patio heaters from Belgium's Alpina will keep guests warm as they dine al fresco.

On guard: A handy and attractive home with a view for the pool lifeguard.

Lazy days: These free-standing hammocks from IM Interior Decoration LLC are a versatile addition to any beach
area.

Relax: Easy chairs and scatter cushions from IM Interior Decoration LLC provide the perfect setting for chilling
in the sun.

Saadiyat doesn't need need a hotel it's not a destination. The ome they have is doing badly and will need government subsidy for years. Hotels should be built when the demand arises not before anything is built which might attract tourists.
People don't think "I know where I want to go on holiday, a 5 star hotel on an island of construction" It seems that everything is being done in reverse. The cultural area should have come before a single hotel room.
I would like to see a new much better heritage village built on the island as the current one is not a great attraction and if I was a local I would be embarrassed by it.

Saadiyat's challenge to serve the local community and visitors

Quote:
Jessica Holland | June 13, 2012

Dr Ulrike Al Khamis speaks on Abu Dhabi's emerging museum landscape at Aga Khan University in London in February. Stephen Lock for The National

In five years, the three museums of Saadiyat Island's Cultural District - Zayed National Museum, Louvre Abu Dhabi and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi - will be just about complete, and we'll have an enviable wealth of relics and artworks at our doorstep. The project has survived an uncertain global economy, but some worries still remain about how the museums will best serve local communities as well as the tourists they will inevitably attract.

It's not near historical mosque architecture but who says the design of mosques can't evolve? The current design is not the same as original designs so maybe it's time for the next generation of design?

I actually really like this design and the detail and commitment the architect has taken to create something which will be sensitive to Muslims. He is brave and open minded to change which reflects the UAE as a whole.

I really hope this gets built as it is a wonderful contrast to the grand mosque and will open up intrest in Islam to none Muslims through its welcoming modern design.
