Wahheeeyy! Result, nice one K. I was about to ring them today, so well done, you've saved me the time (that is, hanging around for about 30 rings, then replacing the handset and repeating the above about 5 times...as is now common practice when ringing Dubai developers).

May as well get used to the idea. It'll kinda be the "Lower Manhattan" of Dubai Marina. Supertall Avenue. It's gona turn out to be quite a landmark no doubt..so its not all bad news.

Well the thing is, najd tower is supposed to be in front but from what we've heard it's been cancelled and the plot has been bought by the le reve developers. If they don't build a supertall then a good number of marina 101's apartments will have decent views.

Once again, this is HOTEL!!!

... end construction has started since early April, when Middle East Foundation boarded the site and moved the machineries in.

I think it's serviced apartments so it will be something like the Laguna Tower in JLT.

can only agree guys. those are hotel apartments.

anyway, i really wonder what emaar thought when designing the plot map. what is the purpose in having all the supertalls in this area?
more sea view since no JBR?

I think its the idea that clustering the supertalls together like this creates a "skyline". If they were dotted about, you wouldn't really get the "block" feel that you get like say in Manhattan or Hong Kong, where most supertalls appear clustered together.

Yeah but most of the supertalls in Manhattan and Hong Kong are office buildings where land is at a premium and views are not such an issue, you tend to expect that in a crowded and densely developed CBD. I can't for the life of me understand why all these supertalls are being built literally on top of each other, nevermind who in their right mind would want one of these apartments when most of the sea and marina views will be blocked by huge towers. I'd like to see the really tall towers spaced around the marina in equal measure rather than lumped together in one block which just seems crazy.

From what I can see its mainly investors who want to flog these on for a profit or let them out...is anyone actually buying them because god forbid they may be a nice place to live?

here here me me .. here i am.

no there is also demand to live in the marina, u can see it when looking at the rents for comleted projects.

they are incredibly high.

but still, the sea or marina facing apartments of those towers should be amazing.
the rest.. well.. they are cheaper, that is why people buy them probably?

I think its a bit of both in most scenarios, even die-hard buy-to-letters will no doubt reserve the apartments for themselves a few weeks a year.

BTW Larven, Now then aaahh kid, Eeeh ba gum! ya from Yorkshire then hey? By 'eck lad, na there's a surprise! I'm from London but was born in Leeds!
