Yes and I would agree that, "remember the past and take pride into the future" is what the new FT is about!

I wish it could be so simple but it isn't. The only way is to compromise and by that meaning twins but with something like the freedom tower design.

That freaky guy, Libeskind, called it that, and I think it stuck. It's actually called One World Trade Center, or World Trade Center Tower One. There already is a memorial being built.

The first design is so UGLY! But seriously what I think they should do with the Freedom Tower is design a more iconic tower hopefully towers that are tall, covered with glass, and satisfy many.

I love how we don't know anything about what it will look like! The FT is still being designed, and we know nothing about the other four towers! It's real suspenseful to me.

Wow, it's almost 3 AM; I should sleep.

Heck even if they took the twin towers and covered them entirely with glass, it would look SO much better!

Oooo!! I know how we can show those terrorists who's boss!! Let's name this the Freedom Tower, as a tribute to our Freedoms!!! And we'll even make it 1,776 feet tall, as in the year the USA was founded!!
if anything, this 1,776' tower should be in Philly, the city responsible for our birth, and obviously the DoI. wouldnt you love that?

The design is real disappointing I would have expected a more creative design. The spire and the base are really ugly. The name of the tower is reall cheeezy too.

I agree. This tower will fit well in Philadelphia. I really don't like the idea of replacing the World Trade Center with something that doesn't even look remotely close to the original. It looks so out of place.

It's like knocking down the Empire State Building and putting up the Jin Mao Building as a replacement. It just doesn't fit.

So many freedom Tower basher.

Building the same twins again is like cloning your beloved dead dog and expecting that everything will be like in the past again. But it will be never the same again.

The WTC are now a part of the human history.

^ Yep. I feel the same way, the point is nothing will be good enough for some of these people.
The facade on the old twins is really what gave them that sense of uniqueness. Narrow windows that shoot all the way up to the top uninterrupted.
It's 2006 and you want two 1300 foot grey boxes?

Oh lmfaoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

even better is this.... "Yeah it's so boring, i hate it. Let's build two of them. Lmfaoooo wow.

Wow

Wow.

I know i said it before

If the empire state building came crashing down. God forbid. That's it. The building that took under a year to build during the height of the great deppression would be gone. The same building a plane crashed into in the 40's. The same one king kong would crawl up in movie theatres and scared the shit out of everyone back when it was built.
Putting up an identical Empire State Building would really be like putting up a skeleton ( as donald trump wisely puts it)

Same thing for chrysler, and it's the same thing for the world trade center.
I always wondered if the twin towers were still around would there still be people favoring them to the likes of jin mao?
Think about that one.
