I dont see what anybody has got to complain about with the current design. The sentimental value of the twin towers is irrelevent. This new project is far superior in design. To make the new towers exactly what they were is a very conservative and narrow minded attitude.

Hmmmm, and here i was thinking libenskind designed it, and it had some sort of garden thing that was as tall as the original WTC.
Im thinking i should pay more attention to the news...

BTW i have spotted trucks on the web cam! we got trucks people! i also see a big mound of rock (or dirt or something) next to the FT location, that wasn't there earlier today so i think they are digging.

how about one building that's 1,776' to roof and 1,973' to spire, and then another one that's 2,001' to roof and however tall they need to build it to beat Burj Dubai ( ) to Spire?

Seriously though, I think the design is alright in itself, but since there's now Burj Dubai going up, it's not good enough anymore. The idea is to make it the tallest building in the world; showing the terrorists we're not backing off. Don't get me wrong, I think 1,776' is a nice gesture and everything, but I wouldn't mind seeing it thrown out in favor of a taller design - tall enough to beat the Burj.

Don't be silly! NYC is not Dubai, don't use that kinda talk on current FT project, at least it just doesn't make sense!

Don't get me wrong, but don't use that egocentric talk on this respectable project!

Backing off would be building nothing. Were building a world trade center for today, that's progress and development.

It sort of looks like the SWFC style, but the roof doesn't change in size or shape; it remains a perfect square.

Those are cool renders.

I like the new design. Its not my favorite by a long shot but its lightyears better than the design with the 40 empty floors on top. I do wish the building height was 1776 and the spire at 2000 as i have stated oh, 20 times but I hold no power in the world of NYC high rise development. As for the renders someone made of twin versions of the current tower, it looks awesome. I would absolutley go for that but it will never happen. As it is I am a little concerned with all the towers being finished around the same time and that much office space opening up at once. It could reak havok on the general prices in downtown and might even affect midtown. basic Supply vs. Demand. To add on an additional monster chunk as another 1300 foot tower would only worsen the problem. Im positive in the long run, it will all balance out and they will be at capacity but im predicting a dicey decade after they are all finished

Today, nothing at all happened at Ground Zero - again. Was that groundbreaking just a fake starting just to make the public STFU!?!? Oh well. We will have to wait a few weeks to see action anyway, sez Larry.
