I highly doubt the terrorest will try to use planes again, as the people on the plane wont think they are just being taken hostage.

Think about it, if the WTC only has one tower, how many lives would have been saved, much less impacts around the ground zero? and I am doubt that Terroists would have picked it as target!

I am glad that families of the victims successfully infulenced the designers on what it takes to learn from the past! Build a FT!
I respect you, but I believe your thinking is completely wrong. You cannot let the fear of terrorism dictate all your decisions. Doing that shows them that they have won. We could go on and on about how they should have built better against terrorism, but to what ends? To the point where every building is a bunker with anti-aircraft guns on them? Terrorism can't be beaten by hiding behind a bigger shield, the fight has to be taken to them.

Im glad we have a tower like FT going up, because its taken too ****** long, and starting today were finally getting that supertall back in NYC. Downtowns too empty now, im just glad we got a supertall finally going up, no matter what it looks like. Besides, this design isnt really all that bad, and Silverstein said that the spire is going to be redesigned anyway.

Downtown skyline views are going to look great, because those of you who like to bitch about the base wont be able to see it, itll be blocked by all angles.
No, I like the Freedom Tower. I'm just saying why not build another one to complement it instead of building some generic and meaningless crystal buildings.

This is the Freedom Tower's second official design. The first, designed by David Childs in collaboration with Daniel Libeskind, was disregarded due to concerns raised by the New York Police department that the building would be vulnerable to a car bomb blast.
That one designed by SOM

Certainly not as great of an impact as if there were 2 towers. I think this project is a wasted opportunity.

IMO, no expense should be spared.
