I thought something new happened, some people are picky here. This is a pic w/ the South Park cranes that I think should be posted here as reference.

Just out of the right side of that picture would be the Luma crane, and since this picture was taken, another crane was added to the LA Live site. Also, another crane was added to the Luma (or possibly Evo) site yesterday or today, so there are a total of seven cranes up in South Park at the moment. You can expect another crane to pop up at the Concerto site in about 3-4 months, and possibly one for the Convention Center hotel by December or January, so there should be 8-9 up by the end of the year/beginning of next year.

Park Fifth

Here is a rendering of the Park Fifth Project

It will be located on 5th street between Olive and Hill. It will have three towers, one of them will be the tallest residential tower west of Chicago.
The project includes 900 units some of which will be what they call live-work bays.

View from another angle. The third tower is the 'midsection' so really only two towers.

From LosAngelesSportsFan's list they're 65, 36, 14, and 14 stories tall. The tallest tower is 65 stories and the smaller tower is 36 stories. The two 'midsections' adjacent to the Title Guarantee Building are the both 14 stories but the left 'midsection' appears to be above street level. Or the building at the corner of Fifth and Olive could be the other 14 story structure.

The two 'midsections' adjacent to the Title Guarantee Building (pictured in the photo below) are of the same height or about the same height of the Title Guarantee Building. So just imagine the visual impact from Pershing Square.

What is the status of the Park 5th project? Has it been approved? Has a groundbreaking date been scheduled yet?

CIRCA – Los Angeles, California

Services Employed: Architectural Design, Interior Design
Service: Architectural Design

CLIENT GOALS: Design a mixed use gateway building in the up and coming Koreatown District of LA, just minutes away from the downtown core on prestigious Wilshire boulevard.

DESIGN RESPONSE: The building takes all it’s design cues from the site, the views and the historic buildings in the area. The 5 story base of the building is an attempt to replicate the scale of the low rise historic buildings that already exist on Wilshire Boulevard. The 18 story residential tower incorporates a modernist palette of glass, metal and pre-cast concrete. The tower’s north-south axis is designed to take advantage of the views of the city, Hollywood Hills, and the active street activity that exists on Wilshire Boulevard. The 400,000 SF project will provide 190 residential units, retail space, and parking.

OMG that building is buetiful!!!! The trend to build an eastward skyline is slowy but surely coming along. 48 stories, humm, not bad at all. If the building is supposed to be completed by '10 it must start in the second half of next year. So the snowball keeps on gaining momemtum.

You mean westward skyline. Yes, that building certainly is beautiful and it will definitely have a big impact on the skyline.
