Couple things i noticed today.

Evo might get a crane very soon
Arts school is now under construction
Orsini 2 is almost above ground
Hanover is going up nicely
SBC is gonna look great once the rehab is done, all glass and the top is going to be enclosed.

They should make the top floor an observation deck.

^ Ok, I'm confused with the SBC tower you and LASF are talking about. Are you fellows referring to the Transamerica Tower on Broadway???

Or did I miss something along the months regarding a new SBC Tower

im talking about the Transamerica building. they have scaffolding along the bottom with a render on the side that shows the building totally redone with glass all over the outside and a much more modern look. It will be a big improvement, considering im not a big fan of the current building and that style in general.

I was down there yesterday. The new building will look a bit like 7 World Trade Center.

The tower is going to match with Evo's futuristic design.

^ The smog is the least of your problems. The high cost of living should be your main concern, but very well worth it. Also just heads up it never snows in the city and temp is always around 65-78 most of the year.

PS~ Smog in LA isnot as bad as the 80's.

Honestly, people need to get over the smog crap. People make such a big deal about it and it's so annoying. As Ferneynism said, smog isn't a huge issue nor should it prevent you from moving to LA.

Pictures!!!

Update taken earlier today, Sat. May 13th. I didn't realize it until I got home, but there was a smudge on my lens which shows up in a lot of the photos. Oh well. Enjoy!

Market Lofts - Ralph's

Concrete has been poured for the 5th floor on the west side. Two more floors to go.

Hanover Tower

The site was very active. Decent progress, but it's not any higher than my last update almost two months ago.

Workers fastening the scaffolding to the core.

Concerto

Nothing doing yet, but the site is fenced off, there's a port-o-potty on the site (the yellow guy waaaaaay in the background), and they have the sidewalks along Hope and 9th closed off to pedestrian traffic. You don't close off sidewalks if you're thinking about building.

LA Live

Looking through the fence from Olympic. As you can see, a lot of progress has been made. They've already made some mat pours of the bottom level.

Detail of the Nokia Theater. Looking that way through the fence, it was impossible not to get the chain links in the shot. Sorry.

Some big concrete walls in the center of the site. These things are at least 3 stories high.

Luma

Moving right along. Working on the 5th or 6th floor. From 11th and Hope.

Looking northeast from across Hope. Supposedly that little building is coming down to become a pocket park.

Evo

Still a big hole in the ground. Looks like they'll be working on foundations for a while, the site is littered with caisson rebar cages.

Close up of a finished caisson

This is a telling photo of the current status of downtown. Note the crane for LA Live in the background...

Glass Tower

The sign on the Glass Tower lot. It looks like they're still trying to market the project to other developers.

That's it for now for pictures. Other things I noticed: Liberty Grill looks like it's very close to being finished. We should have a meet there when it opens. They started painting the back and sides of the Eastern Columbian to match the aqua green terra cotta in the front. It looks pimp. And I saw moving vans outside of Elleven and Reserve Lofts, so people are slowly starting to populate the neighborhood. It's not much now, but give it 6-12 months and it will be a completely different story.
