The main walking street seemed nice (only been there at night). Interesting how the square had a mosque and church opposite each other, i thought it looked great.

Something else that was on my mind... Are there any plans at all for the old railway station in Skopje? It is just rotting right now - I mean either rebuild it, or demolish it and build a new museum. Right now it just sitting there, half destroyed, and its making the surrounding area look very poor and old. Here are some pics

I find nothing wrong with it, they should spruce up the front, the parking lot beside it and make it look more like an official museum, but changing/demolishing the actual look of the building is a mistake IMO |

I dont think that they should demolish it, or fully rebuild it. I agree with Macedonia that something needs to be done, but I had light renovation of the surviving part in mind, with a possible expantion of the museum, leaving the front largely as is.
There was all sorts of proposals for this area including making it the new city hall, although that now is likely going to be the rebuilt oficerski dom if i remeber. That whole area has seen pretty big (re)development in the last 5 odd years so hopefully they will continue with the station.

I understand that the building has sentimental value relating to the memory of the earthquake of 1963. But IMO, I would prefer that the building was demolished and a new museum or memorial building dedicated to the earthquake was constructed, something with modern architecture. If people don't want to demolish it, they could rebuild the part that was destroyed and make it look the way it did before.

Adding a modern extension to the existing building is also a good idea, like this museum (Royal Ontario Museum in Canada)

Lol, not bad at all
But I think the railway station should remain to be a visual remainder of the earthquake. |

You make a good point Macedonia! A modern addition would look nice, like that one in Ontario, it looks awesome
Maybe a more modern glass type addition on the empty side to resemble the other side but more modern.Plus the rail way station is at a ideal location because any photo you take down that pedestrian street Makedonija, it's the rail way station that catches your eye because it faces the entire street and looks cool. |

Can someone please give me some information on Macedonia's main historical museum, one that exhibits all of Macedonia's archeological finds (example: ancient, roman, byzantine periods). Does anyone have a photo of the museum? For example, the most important museum in Greece is the "National Archaeological Museum of Athens" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nationa...seum_of_Athens) which contains the richest collection of artifacts from the Greek antiquity worldwide. Another museum of great importance in Greece is the "Thessaolniki Archaeological Museum" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thessal...logical_Museum).

Great looking village. Now you have to put some tourists on donkeys and charge them big bucks for walking them around.
