It is definitely much different than the Jin Mao. The Signature Tower doesn't resemble bamboo like the Jin Mao. Very good comparison photo.

It was announced today that next month the FAA will be changing the flight paths into the Nashville airport to avoid Signature Tower. I don't think the FAA would be doing such a thing if this project is not a definite go. Groundbreaking is now only 4 weeks away!

this is a skyscraper any city would want as its tallest; if the spire was ugly Id be more prone to criticize its length, but damn. what a beauty.

facade will be interesting to see.

I consider Signature Tower to most closely resember the Chrysler Building in NYC. It is almost exactly the same size.

Here's an updated rendering from an ad in the Nashville City Paper. Compare to the old rendering at the bottom. I like the new design of the crown and spire even better than the old, and I like the way the design is incorporated at the top of the Hotel section at about floor 14. Groundbreaking still expected on July 4th.

versus an older rendering:

Hankster --- the parking/ameneties portion of the podium looks different also. Looks like they scrapped the brick facade that was on the earlier version. Looks more integrated now. Can you confirm?
Absolutely love the new version. Just when I thought that it could not get any better!

It looks that way as well. I believe new renderings are to be posted on the Signature Tower website soon that should confirm the change.

I sense the level of skepticism is down a notch or too. I believe the vast majority of UP forumers is expecting the groundbreaking to take place on July 4th. I personally talked to Tony Giarratana a little over a month ago, and he is absolutely committed to starting this project then. He has already spent nearly $20 Million on it so far, and the ground will break on that day.

Approximately 40% of the dollar value of condos have been reserved. It appears that Kimpton Hotels is now playing a larger role in the project as they are now occupying floors 1-14 instaed of floors 1-12.
