Akasha, you have to decide for yourself if you want to sign the petition.
The petition is not project specific. My view is that the problem is not in the Developer - it is in RERA. They have the power to enforce the law and to make the Developers do what they have promissed. There is good legislation in Dubai, the problem is that the Government organisations do not enforce it and that is why the Developers are dragging their feet. The main idea behind the petition is to show RERA that we are not speculators who came for quick buck. We wanted to move and live in the Sport city. Delaying projects is not good for the economy of Dubai and pushing the investors away. At the same time we want some action from RERA because they have been sitting on the side and shuffling investors between the Developers and the Court. So far we have no rihgts. I hope that a lot of investors will sign this petition which will bring some awareness about our issues and subsequently, bring some positive changes. |

Ah but you see then that gets all political. DSC - master developer/Dubailand is Dubai Properties = Government owned. It's all very well trying to enforce things, but the developers have no money and with people doing runners, payments on hold etc, the cash flow has dried up, because the escrow laws came in too late for many people, so the cash simply no longer exists. It's a catch 22 situation. Of course the implementation of laws would be fantastic, but how far would them actually go to enforce them? Right now you can take try and resolve issues through court and or arbitration, but they tie it up for months at great cost, so most people simply don't bother.

Most of the investors have been trying to hope for the better for....5-6 years. They have lost hope and ready to move on. Dubai is going to suffer since this lack of support to investors, there will not be any new influx of capital. You said it that you are considering to walk away. I am not paying any more also and there are thousands like us. Sooner the Government realises that the Investors build cities, not the Developers, will be better for everyone. I am sure that if the Government start applying the law the way it suppose to be applied, the Developers will find money to finish the projects.
If we talk strictly about DSC, my other concern is the lack of infrastructure. I am still unsure where the people who live there shop? There is no infrastructure, the transportation is lousy..We were promised shopping centres and stadions..It seems that the Government has abandoned the dream of purpose built sport city. They build swimming pool ...out of the Sport city...The tennis turnement is ...out of the Sport city. The question is do you really want to be part of a city abandoned by Developers and the Government? |

Thank you for joining the group. |

Yeah right! Can anyone really see that happening. I so wish they would just be honest and stop plucking dates out of thin air.

haha i love the Aamir Kahn post. I have promised a few people up at DSC that if he ever comes within 10 feet I will snap his neck, dirty little cockroach. we got a october date earlier this month from the office, much like we did this time last year....by the way were at 90% has anyone been asked for the last 10% yet? its well overdue but they say they will notify us - hope thats not a clever game to get us in default.
i remember once being allowed a sneak peek at the spreadsheet with all the investors and the stages of their payments. this was post recession and looked relatively healthy however i noticed most seemed to be from the subcontinent - whether that is a good or bad thing.....you decide.... lets face it zarooni is one of the most connected men in the uae so cant ever see RERA making him 'lose face'. i'm still going to put in the last 10% when asked for it as i'm too far in to quit now. wish theyd give a bit of info which was believable for once just so we know where we stand but thats just not ever going to happen. also - tiered completion maybe but i understand that they'll all be released at the same time. do you reckon they will put the gyms and stuff in....(think JBR, Palm etc). anyway i'll pay it up as just hope for the best even if it does take another 2 years. i've totally screwed up my family's finances now but somehow i just cant the emiratis caring too much.....haha by the way, last point, we'll need to be prepared for handover costs like RERA etc and group together or i imagine they'll try to screw us over like they did at Trident where they asked for gbp30,000 (!) for connection. they were defeated in court by the residents so there is some small hope.... toodle pip! |

possibly amongst all the other posters here your messages, got lost...mainly because you are so up beat ..! I agree with you DSC can,t be taken on face value any more...why i don,t know ..well obviously its to do with cash ,,but how or when, i have no idea other than to make guesses...? when one looks at the real situation regarding Canal Residence West it is unlike any other problem in Dubai ..in that it is more or less sold out and the finance in place or will be on completion ..with master developer yet ?

Took a drive-by over the weekend and all the scaffolding is off the Mediterranean tower, looks pretty much finished. The other two still have a bit to go, especially the Venetian. I cannot see how they can handover until they're all finished, they're so close together, the infrastructure is all linked.
I tried to ask the workmen there about it, but they didn't rally understand me lol Anyone else got an update? |

Just posting lots of photos which take forever to load is NOT an update! I want someone to actually 'say' what is going on. I live 10 mins away so can drive by and see for myself, but nobody actually 'says' anything.
