Just been to see the notary. She cancelled the re-writtings we did with a lawyer and returned it to the original that Fine & Country provided for us ie the Power of Attorney that will allow them to act for us as i am not in the UAE at the moment. It needs to go to the FCO and the UAE embassy in london and then back to them in Dubai. Its a lot cheaper than flying out and doing each stage myself with my mother as we are joint buyers and therefore have to sign everything together! Agreed about the length of the snagging procesd. It needs a lot of work! F&C also doing that for us. its all quite costly UEA Investor but cheaper than my flights and hotels...!

Done exactly the same Cherry, costs wise it was a no brainer and in the wider scheme of things not overly expensive.

Finally got to look at our apartments today in the Venitian as it was the last day for handover. One on floor 17 still 3 weeks of. Cheeky buggers DSC as I've now paid in full. One on floor 3 a week off. Fittings really poor, especially the kitchen units. The units are of poor and thin quality chipboard. The doors are thin hollow core something with a cheap 60's wood veneer. Will post pictures when we get back next week. On a positive, it's a good investment with potential a high rent.
But if this is to be your main residence I would be disappointed. Cheers Paul

Could you put a uk price on the kitchens in CRW asuming one could buy such?

Ive said all along the kitchens need a refit!

UAE Investor. We are going back to have a better look this Saturday and will cost out kitchens next week once we are home.
As for POA costs & to help others , here is what we paid.
Local notary to validate us £250,
We then postep his signed form to Vicki Harker at
Blair Consular, who for £280 did a 3 day fast track with all the regulator authorities and then sent to Fine and Country. Vicki did it all for that price which I feel is a bargain and stress free. So from signing with the Notary, it took another 5 days to reach Dubai.
Fine and Country then charge AED2500 to sort out DEWA, Emicool and all the rest. To be honest you could have a go yourself at doing this, but from chasing Nick at F&C this week it's consumed his time queuing and waiting and he has a car and knows these people. If we had attempted this it would have taken days of frustration in boiling heat going round in circles ending in a divorce.
Although we've gone the POA way we've come here for a break and to see what we have all been waiting for. But don't be fooled, the quality is atrocious, but will give more factual feedback next week when I can post on a PC keyboard.

They are just finishing apartments which are to be handed over.

Lot of work to be done. I think it will take an year at least. But looks good after that.

Rental demand is very high. I could see constant flow of people for 1 hour I was standing at security.

One can expect 8-9 % gross return based on mid 2006 property prices
