hi Northern Lotus,

i am sorry to destroy your dream of originality. but if you paint the Guangzhou TV tower in red... it looks like the Kobe tower in japan... different size, but same design... much more similar than the new sumida tower and the eiffel tower.

i lived in france and in japan ... i had plenty of time to know the both towers.

i love when people only think with stereotypes ... and miss a lot of knowledge by focussing on few symbols.
i dont have a photo of the kobe tower to post, but it is easy to find it on google.

Tokyo is so overrated :-( Especially its skyscrapers... so many boxes, so lil innovation :-(

Roppongi Hills & the Metropolitan gov't complex are exceptions tho. I love those two:-)

He wasn't saying that Sumida tower is similar to the Eifel tower, he was saying that Tokyo tower is similar to the Eifel tower. Which it is.

So what many observation tower look a lot like each other. Tokyo Tower fits tokyo well, in red. Just as Eiffel Tower suites Paris (maybe we today think so becouse we are so used to the combination, but i believe it does colorwise etc).

The concept of twisting skyscrapers was first introduced in Malmö, shouldnt other be able to implement their own interpretations and types of the style becouse of that? From what ive seen about architecture in Tokyo it is honestly not overrated, there is a lot of variation and buildings which stand out (with that said its not neccesarely always good for buildings to stand out to much). The lack of skyscrapers have natural and obvious reasons.

it took the largest metro in the world a long time to get a supertall....is it that they lay by a large and active fault....?....in my opinion Toyko should look like Neo-Toyko off of Akira.

Of course its becouse of earthquakerisks, no reason to invest in a skyscraper that might be demolished by an earthquake the next year. Maybe its becouse its more practical with the lower buildings to. But if the earthquake risk werent a factor i can imagine they would have built taller earlier even if not frequently at least a couple of ones.

I believe Towers are a cheap excuse to be among 'the top' of the world. Buildings are far more impressive.
