So we are building four 600m and one 700m (or 800m?) Supertalls in under one decade. Plus the proposal of 1 more 600m which will be approve anyway. This is getting nuts.

I agree with above. It's a glorified radio tower. BFD.

BD
Pagcor tower
Sumida tower
GZ tower
RT
CS

5 600m+ structure and 1 800m structure, that is quite insane within such a short period of time.

Very cool design really, I liked how the cross section of the tower changed from triangular to circular shape.

Beside that it may harbour the world third highest observation deck beside SWFC and RT upon completion

However I suggest once this get built might as well tear down Tokyo tower since it function might been snatch by this giant twice the size

They're even adding 100m to the old tower.
http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-b...0070923a3.html

The two towers are owned by different companies and there will be some serious competition. And since the old tower is a world famous landmark they won't tear it down.

The new tower is just Tokyo Space Age, snatched right out of a manga, brilliant!

Wow there will be like a twin supertall TV tower in tokyo, that would be kind of strange? won't it be?

Anyway can let me know what is the manga that inspired this tower?

I don't think it's actually inspired by manga, but you never know. It just looks that way, but now I read my post again it's easy to misinterpret my words.

I'm sorry, but this TV antenna should not be in with the supertall thread. This is how a city can cheat in skyscraper construction and design. It's almost as bad as counting the spire on WTC 1... plEase!

I actually agree with you So many cities are building these 600m towers, the only good one is that one in Guangzhou, because it has some architectual merit, compared to lets say the ones proposed in Manila and Jakarta, which are fugly.

I don't quite get the idea of these kind of towers. There's no room for anything inside, it's just a tv /radio tower with few observation decks. The hight is impressive, yes, but what's the point? I'd rather like to see them build a real skyscraper building, with some office and hotel space inside. Those look much better.

And how is that world's tallest building anyway?
