11/16 Blog Round-up

It's always fantastic when the regular bloggers go on a helicopter tour around the Sky Tree.

Agreed. It is extremely dense yet extremely fresh looking. Something only Tokyo can pull off.

On those aerials the shadow looked pretty big, how far from the tower will the shadow reach in midwinter when it's finshed??...at noon?.

For people that knows: Are there any sub-centre with shopping and companies existing today where the sky tree stands? or is it planned to be like that?

There aren't to many shops and offices in the neighbourhood, there's a local shopping street but I don't think that's what you mean. As for offices there are a few bigger buildings but there are mostly small businesses in the area. The neighbourhood is basically a mixed but mostly residential area.

And some fun with the Sky Tree.

On those aerials one can clearly see the transition from triangle to circle.

This tower is really enjoyable to watch being constructed.

Wonderful images Momo1435.

Just a question, given the size of this thing and the cost of construction, is it designed to generate actual income to the tv companies who are building it or is it really just a giant antenna? How is it ever going to pay for itself?

Hi Quarter.

Good one - and so true.
The construction method seems so much "cleaner" than the Guangzhou tower for some reason. Don't get me wrong - the GT is one of my fave projects and another project I save pics of. It's just this method of fully coating the joints before the covered platforms move up leave no chance for rust to form. Looks great and finished as they go.

On the webcam it looks a little like two of the cranes have already risen, but it's hard to be sure, the resolution is pretty mediocre.
