It's the other way around.

One of the cranes has come down a bit in order to be have a jump tomorrow.

Usually they lower the crane and put up the new segments of the mast in one go, but this time they leave it like this for 1 night. Unless they have continued in the dark, the webcams already get black around 17:00 so it's pretty hard to see what's happening right now.

The tower also grew a bit today.

To see the scale of the tower, look at that circular platform:

This has to be the most exciting not-topped=out construction project in the world at present.

I finally went and checked out the Sky Tree today. Photos don't do it justice -- this thing is huge, and it's only 1/3 done!

I've never seen so much activity on a construction site. I'm pretty sure they added about 10 meters to it while I watched.

Any SSC members in these pics? Or is the Sky Tree turning ordinary people into skyscraper geeks?

I saw about ten truckloads of Skytree drive past in ten minutes:

Lots of love from Tokyo folk:

Another truckload!

Confession: I only took this one because there was an awesome cat on the balcony watching me.

Wow, thanks for the fantastic pictures.

The chances that there are SSC members in the pics small since there aren't to many of them in Tokyo. But it's clearly a sign that the people in Tokyo know what is happening here. And there have been discussions right here if this tower will be an icon for Tokyo, seeing all those people looking and taking pictures is definitely a sign that it will be. It's quite possible that I find some of those pics on their weblogs and post them later here.

Although with your pictures I can now just post 1 picture from far away, just to show the raised cranes from a distance.

So far it looks nicer than in the render. And even though the location seems far from the main clusters it would probably be a location for views/photo-ops on top :-)

I found many people don't like something that doesn't fit into the context in harmony. But I think Cocoon tower, although it is very different from the other straight skyscrapers in Shinjuku area, is nice architecture.

I understand your point, but at least that tower isn't covered in black and yellow like the one in Lower Manhattan.
