Does anyone know the method used to jack the cranes? Do they add sections to the top of the masts, then climb? Or does the crane climb internally?

Twice as high as the moon, that makes the Sky Tree 770,000 kilometers tall.

There was a timelapse video of it a few pages back. I think they push up the tower from below through the crane platform, then the crane climbs up the tower.

ええな~~~~
Grrr Tokyo envy. The rest of Japan always gets left out! Anyway I am very excited to be a tourist again in Tokyo this may (yes Japanese can be tourists in their own country :P). I will take alot of pictures of it then and upload them promptly!

Remember what I said earlier about the height? Japanese are secretly competing...well I guess it's not secret now

Haha, i had to deal with that first hand whilst toruing the shrines and temples of Kyoto. Some of them were absolutely packed.

Anyway, although I'm still not 100% convinced with the design, this is one rather impressive development. The contruction pace and precision is phenominal and you can see the way they have treated the steel in regards to corrosion it should maintain its strength well. You can imagine that this tower will probably be out a couple of milimetres from the plan when they have finished.

I've noticed the same thing in a number of photos and I think it appears this way because it's shaped like a triangle at the base and gradually becoming circular as it gets higher. That means that those corner tubes have to move towards the center while the ones in between have to move slightly outwards in order to form a circle by the time it reaches the first observation deck.

Yes, the sky tree changes shape as it gets taller, but it doesn't twist.

How tall is the tower now? And when is the tower expected to pass Tokyo Tower (333m)? Does anyone know anything?
