How about the canal area? I hope they totally redo it. Tokyo is so great, but has so much potential when it comes to the riversides. I think that they should also make at least one of the canals in Tokyo really cool-looking and colorful at night, like the one completed in central Seoul. Although it may look a bit artificial, it will add another dating spot, besides the typical Odaiba routine...

Yes, they have plans to redesign the canal and turn them into tree-lined promenade type thing. It looks like they've already started work on it in fact. If you go back to page 132 there are some pictures of what I'm talking about.

You can see the scale of the tower in these base pics:

Agreed
When i usually think about Tokyo, nothing crosses my mind but highrises.
This will set a new landmark for this city and perhaps for the whole country.

Great updates ! Looks nice even from a 10km distance... The base is extremely big !!! Maybe wider than that of Tokyo Tower???

No I don't think so, it's might be in this topic where they had a comparison image or I have seen one somewhere else. But I think that the base length on Tokyo Tower is 80 meters but the Sky Tree "only" is 70 meters...

Anyway another great update...

The demolition of the Tobu Railway Headquarters has now really started.

Today some attractions that will be housed in the podium building have been announced.

A 220 seat, 18 meter diameter multifunctional dome theater "Konica Minolta TOKYO Planetarium"

And the "Sumida Aquarium" where you can have an educational but entertaining 3 dimensional sea life experience.

two months ago i saw this tower and it's quite impressive how this developed continues, i think it's hard to build something like that, only to think there are many earthquakes around the city, it seems Tokio is touching the sky again

Thanks for the diagram CULWULLA! Good to see you back!

Another 100m and they'll be at the first observation turret!

Anyone got an estimate on when they will reach this first OT?

Won't be long until this starts to peek up over taller buildings and we can see it from much further away. I'm looking forward to that

hey everyone
love this structure. i was wondering would you guys like me to post my construction update diagrams? they r a bit like culwulla's diagrams but a little bigger. i have completed the sky tree diagram up to the latest information i could find so at the moment it will looks a little bit like culwulla's. heres a diagram i did for a building under construction in perth australia to show you what i am capable of. all my diagrams are to scale of 1:850. the paper models i make are at 50% to this scale

EDIT: this time i am only going to draw the red line across where each object has reached. making each of the individual beams and stuff just doesn't work on a tower like this for me. i am better at buildings with floors and a core.

heres the diagram
