Do navi systems work well in Tokyo? I guess I have to explain the question to stay on topic: I know I could find the Sky Tree because you will be able to see it almost anywhere in the city, but getting around the most effecient way? I heard a lot of the city was confusing and some streets don't even have names.

Most streets don't have names, only the bigger ones and often they have a number as name. For the countless smaller streets there is a number system in place that works with neighbourhoods, blocks and individual houses.

This makes a place hard to find if you only the address, you will get the right neighborhood but then it's hard to find the right way, even for Japanese people. It's quite common that you see maps with the directions from the nearest train/metro station to a specific place in advertisements etc. The whole metro/train system might seem very confusing if you look at a syatem map for the first time, but if you know where you're going it will get you anywhere without having to change to many times.

And not surprisingly Tokyo was one of the 1st cities where providers offered navigation on your mobile phone, even if you are walking it can show you the way. As you can imagine it's quite popular, people don't have to step into the police box any-more to ask for directions.

It's going to be even more easier with applications like 'Google Goggles' or 'Layer'. Programmes that show an virtual extra layer over existing images from Streetview on your telephone (called augmented reality). Just by pointing your camera along the houses, you could see names, telephone numbers, adresses etc, floating in the air (on your phone screen) next to the right homes. With GPS it's even possible to see a giant red arrow floating above the house you need to go to. Just find a high spot, point the camera at the city and you can see the for example giant arrow floating above the right house in the distance and how far it is walking in meters.

I believe that some Dutch innovations makes that possible.

Tokyo has been untouched by snow… usually protected by the island's mountain ranges.

The last completed level is 254m, that was on Christmas day and there hasn't been a new official height update since then.

Beautiful pics!

With 254 meters, construction equals the height of Singapore´s Capital Tower and measures exactly half of Taipei101.
