I believe it's already over it elcid. But the core if you can call it like that will first go higher and than the pod will be build around it.

Love the updates!!

The way the tower transform after they removed the netting is unreal, I really hope they remove the bars that they hung the scaffolding on, that would give the tower a really clean look.

Negatives
-kind of an ugly design IMO
-nearly none of the space is utilized. It's really just a tv tower/observation deck.
-One could say its out of place.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some of these shots make me forget about all that. The sheer awe that this tower inspires is awesome. Some of the photos are incredible, especially with it going up in the clouds. While one could say it looks out of place amongst much smaller buildings, you could also say that is a positive, because it just dominates everything and puts the mark in landmark. Gotta respect Tokyo for having the balls to build this thing. throwing a 2000 foot TV tower in the middle of a short area is a gamble, but this came out incredible.

4/17, Still bad weather, it's also very cold for the time of the year. That must be the reason the planned crane jump hasn't taken place yet.

This tower is massive! I really hope it becomes a symbol of Tokyo and what Japan can build.

I still have a hard time believing there aren't any guyed masts in Japan that are taller than TST.

Anyway, I'm really digging the lack of blue netting now. It gives the tower a much cleaner look.

Probably because they would snap in a moderate to strong earthquake. I would think the masts could only be so tall before the cost/benefit ratio for earthquake failure/broadcast range becomes too high.

But yes, the tower looks so much more inviting without the blue netting!
