Ueno zoo is pretty much a basic zoo, nothing really special like some European zoo's that have complete desserts and jungles etc. But if you like zoo's it's always fun and it's also pretty cheap for 600 yen. It was just a spur of the moment thing when I got back from Haneda, justing looking for something to do.

Ueno Zoo, Park and the science museum are totally worth it and of course dead easy to find, they're across the road from Ueno station

Isn't it great to have a reference in a city! I mean every time I go to a new city, trying to find my way around, I always say to myself "I wish they had an Empire state building" to give me a clue about direction. Now Tokyo has a reference point!

New York used to be even better. The ESB in one direction and the twins in the other....I miss them.

Construction is just unbelievable fast. If you don't watch this thread regularly (every two weeks). You're already shocked by how fast it is.

I watch this thread daily and I'm shocked with how fast it is. I know steel latice towers go up much quicker than most other structures, but there must be some world records somewhere in this process.

Yeah its been around a month since I checked this thread and its just gone up so unbelievably fast! Looking amazing though, a really distinctive, nicely designed tower thus far.

Thanks guys for your opinions about Ueno Zoo. For 600yen I guess I'll give it a try (though the exchange rate makes me cry everyday...).

Thanks for the video Kitty, it's nice to see some moving footage from time to time.
And don't worry about your accent, I think japanese accent is really cute.

@ hakuta: Could you (or anyone else) give us non-japanese-speaking a short translation whats written in the article?

And yeah, this monster is growing incredibly fast. Stunning!

Japanese-style portable toilets? I'd be afraid to even open that door. Western-style ones are bad enough after a few days

I don't think that it's an issue, Japanese-style toilets are pretty hygenic in comparison, and I would almost bet that a cleaning crew arrive every day to give it a good rinse

I have once squatted while going 270 km/h which was interesting

Nice update NihonKitty and Momo, love them both!!
Looks like they will install another sloping section above the one they are adding now.

I've been on a train in Europe when you pushed the flush button, a flap opened and you could see the tracks below!

Back on topic, this surely must be the final level of the first pod? It already looks bigger than the renders!

I dunno... the squatters on Chuo Line stations on a Friday night were always nasty as hell. And I've seen far worse in other parts of Tokyo. The horror.

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to start a conversation on Japanese toilets. That Sky Tree is looking absolutely beautiful.

The toilets, I just had to take that picture.

But more serious news...

The fun is over...

06/07 early morning from the Narita Airport Express.

Now it's back to the good old blog updates.
