I dare say, this tower's finally higher than my classmates! If/when I ever visit Japan, I'm looking forward to visiting this engineering marvel of the 21st Century.

I found these images at the Japanese site http://www.skytree-obayashi.com

The tower is expected to reach full height around Spring 2011. The next year will be spent finishing the interiors and the low-rise complex surrounding the tower.

When does the second pod construction begin? Are we nearing that height?

Isn't the antenna already constructed in the middleof the tower? So, T/O is very soon!

I would seriously hate to be one of the crane operators. You're way up high, in bad weather (I'm guessing since fall is starting), in earthquake country, and your crane isn't even on solid ground! Oh man, I'd fear for my life going to work every day if I was one of those crane operators!

I'm sure the height would bother me but when you consider the design and engineering that's been put into this structure I would much rather ride out an earthquake in one of those cranes than be far below in an older building that was built long before modern advances in construction techniques. I suspect that the Sky Tree will be one of the safest structures in Tokyo.

Yeah, I guess you're right. Still, it's a bit unnerving, I'd think.

One more level and it's at the roof? Spire jacking to start next week, or upper pod first?
