This device will part of the absolute top of the tower, it's to reduce the vibration of the spire (not the whole tower) in case of an earthquake or a typhoon.

http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/national/ne...OYT1T00332.htm

It's now standing on top of the current tower until it will be pushed up by the spire when it's starts to come out of the tower.

The question now is if it's already counting for the current height. It's more then 3 meters tall and that will mean that the tower has passed the 500m. We will see soon enough it will be counted or not when the new current height will be announced.

Yes, that's the idea.

It's like a glass walkway around the pod it starts at the top floor of the pod and as you go round the tower you decent to the floor below where you can take the elevator down.

That sky walkway is a brilliant idea, I must be back in Tokyo by 2013 to climb up there.

I think the answer is that it goes on the outside of the pod and the main part of the pod is still being constructed so naturally it will have to be done last.

They probably will need to get the crane towers out of the way first.

There is quite large gap between the crane leg and the pod - looking at it from South / West it is evident.

The cranes will stay as they are right now until the spire is completely done and probably longer.

The vibration control device hasn't been added to the total height yet, it's still 497m high.

There's one question that's more interesting, can one see the Tokyo Sky Tree from the top of Mount Fuji?
