I found these pics on page 216 which explain about spire rising.

The official blog of the builder had a post about the spire that is constructed in the core.

That was the explanation on how the spire was put together inside of the core. More recently I posted more info on how they are lifting the spire out of the core. Let me repost some of that info.

After the spire was completed in the core at the bottom of the tower it was lifted up by a special lifting system inside of the tower. The green dots on the top represent from where it's lifted up.

This pictures is the current situation, the wires are connected to the bottom of the spire. As they lift the spire it's being pulled out of the core "into the sky"

more info in Japanese:
http://www.obayashi.co.jp/news/skytr...l10_20100724_1

The top of the spire was constructed on top of the tower and houses 2 tuned mass dampers.

Let's also repost this sumary of a news article about a spire:

The spire is currently being hoisted up inside of the core. The top is currently at 450m, about the same height as the 2nd pod. The total length of the spire is 240m, the diameter is approximately 10m and it weighs about 3,000 ton in total. The speed that they are hoisting it up with inside of the core is 3m per hour, 25m per day.

With such a heavy lift it's essential that the tension on the wire stays the same during the lifting, the system that is used automatically adjust to even the smallest variations in tension. Another problem is the chance of an earthquake during lifting. To prevent damage on the spire and the inside of the core they have wrapped special cushions around the spire.

The planning is still that the spire will start to come out from the tower from December and onwards. Don't except the same speed as it has now inside of the core. They will need to install the antenna equipment as it come out of the spire and top of that they have to take the weather conditions into account. It probably won't shoot to the top in 5 days if it goes on with the same speed as it does now.
And some pictures from this morning 12/11

The spire will grow up to 530m this month, that's about 1 meter per day. We have to see if they make it grow gradually or that they will do it in several steps.

A comparision, how Tokyo Sky Tree looked on 31th October and how it looks today.

How it gonna look in the near future:

Japanese people are really diligent and they can things well, maybe that's why it's being built so fast.

Fantastic photos, tommyzion! I think we have never seen so many pics from those angles.
Looks great with Shinjuku and other towers on the background!
The tubular skywalk makes the pod look really futuristic

12/13 blog update:

You could be fooled today......

... but the tower is now officially 514m high.

http://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/masatoshi0102

In the meantime the first digital TV transmission equipment arrived at the site, it will be attached to the spire as it goes up.

Even more.
