[QUOTE=Momo1435;69202061]

Here are some other pictures instead, first some merchandise pictures.

http://ameblo.jp/tokyo-skytree-blog/

Great pics momo -was going to post the exact same one of this stand in Tokyu Hands - they have a scale model that is a 'piggy bank' - 'Tokyo Sky Tree Banku' box at the front there. You fill it up with 500yen coins and when full, you should have about 634,000 yen (5,700 eur) in there (OoO) It's large model, would like to get it but being all blue like that its chotto ....

Anyway, here is a 'nano block' version of the TST they are selling here :

Why all the wasted window space on the first pod? What is behind the cladding near the top edge?

12/20 blog update:

New official Height:

And that means that it could stay this height for the rest of the year, unless they want to move ahead of schedule.

I have been looking at the official website's camera since construction started. The photos here are so much better. I had visited the Tokyo Tower (333m) in 1998 and even remember a news article about building a larger tower even then. Now all that remains are the antenna sections, and the finishing touches to the tower and surrounding buildings. Aside from Digital TV,I guess there will also be communications and other utility towers sharing this tall structure. I may live in the US,but this is great to look at.

Only 105m!??

here in Christchurch, we have a tv tower that is 121m high, and that seems pretty big.
this has nearly that height still to go!
from sea level, the tower in CHCH is 615m high, which still isn't as high as what the Tokyo Sky Tree is going to be!

I think you'll find the Eiffel tower went up faster. No, not as tall, but still over 300m, and built over 100yrs ago.

A bit later, the Empire State Building went up in a little over a year. Not as tall as sky tree, but not just a tower either.

Sometimes we forget how good engineers were back then.

You are forgetting how lax safety standards were back then. No safety lines, netting, even hard hats. Nowadays half the work on a big tower like this is just putting up and taking down all that stuff.

So far SkyTree has a perfect safety record, let's hope it stays that way

Just watch this space the next two days and you will see if it has grown or not. It didn't grow in the last 24 hours btw.

12/22 quick blog update

The always lovely 12 year old Enka (Japanese traditional pop music) singer Sakura Maya newest single is an ode to the Tokyo Sky Tree.
