It's cool to see this starting. I really want to go back to Tokyo to live. It's my favourite city Teh wife does not think it's such a good idea for us to live there though :p

Well, looks like this will be another regular thread for me to watch.

This tower will go up fast since the completion date is Dec 12 2011. That is about a 3 year span but I bet the tower height will be done several months before then.

On a clear day, you can see Mt Fuji on most high rises. However the view from SKYTREE should be priceless. That being said, maybe on a very clear day. you can see SKYTREE from the top of MT. FUJI.

What does "UC" stand for?

FYI - They are just doing ground work at this time. It is a huge project and several building around that area are currently being destroyed. There seems to be 3 gates for trucks to enter the complex. The center gate aligns right where the tower will be built.

Thanks for the trip Senju, it was a nice meeting with you!

Yesterday I went to the Tokyo Tower, MT Fuji was visible and I took pics from only the 150m observatory. Almost the same height as Goldcrest Views roof in Dubai where is the swimming pool
View from the Skytree might be amazing.

Hi Imre! Glad to show you around!
FYI - Since Tokyo Tower is a little over 300 meters, Tokyo Sky Tree will be twice as tall. Yep! MT. Fuji should be awesome to look at from the top observation deck on Tokyo Sky Tree.

Superb Imre. I think the height can be changed to 610.58 meters now . (or maybe not)

Is there a lot of construction going on in Tokyo, highrise wise?

First of all its high density there, and second its a communications towers and im pretty sure that the communications situation has an impact on where to build it. Further, I guess land is expensive in Tokyo. Not to talk about that a 610 meter high tower is not something that everyone would just accept to be built in their neighborhood.

I bet once Tokyo Sky tree starts show some hight, the sounding area will change. Property value will go up. People sell. They destroy old buildings and create new ones. I think this tower will cause a wave of new construction (like a Tsunami wave).
