Structurally it's possible to make it higher, I remember reading somewhere that 650m was the maximum. If it will happen is another question. If they are going to surprise us they already decided it. They can only do it by making the spire longer and during this stage of the construction they cannot change that anymore.

But I doubt it will happen, the current height has some meaning since has a name pun in Japanese

6 Muttsu (6 when you count small things)
3 San
4 Shi

If you put the bolded parts together you get Musashi, and that is the name of a former Japanese province that is now the area of Greater Tokyo.

Video of today's growth.

The current height should be around 550m.

I would have guessed that name refered to the swordsman played by Toshiro Mifune who was in turn imitated by Clint Eastwood.

I think this is great for me actually. When I was in Tokyo, it was so hard to see Mount Fuji. That mountain is so shy and always hiding and you're lucky to even get a glimpse of it. Hopefully when I am next in Tokyo, this building can offer me even a tiny glimpse of it!

I like the tower, but doesn't it look a bit too stumpy? Perhaps the main observatory could have been higher up which would have given the tower a more slender and taller look.

Ready for the third batch of antennas. From the render, I gather there will be ten of those four antenna levels when it's done.

I realize that most of these threads are for lovers of the projects only. Those who dissent are quickly humiliated out of the thread for their differing opinions. However, even the lovers of this tower have to admit to its awkward handling of the uppermost observation level and the antenna above.

The upper pod sits strangely at the 2/3 point up the exoskeleton. Then the exoskeleton just abruptly stops. Then there are some giant bolts sticking up and then the antenna starts. It all looks hashed together like a first year architect student's mid-term project. The upper pod should have sat on the top of the exoskeleton and then a more graceful antenna added above. It would have gone a long way to improving the proportions of this tower, which as is, are all off.

In design there are certain ratios called "Golden" that are extremely pleasing to the human eye... This tower employs none of those.

Did you ever stop to think it might be your whining that alienates people?
And you hypocricy in complaining of intolerence and they telling people what they "have" to admit?

I like it's industrial look.

It was never intended to be an architectural masterpiece, it had built quick, safe and without a huge budget. All set out to do it's job when it's finished and that is transmitting those digital TV signals all over the great Kanto plain without crumbling to pieces when the next big one hits.

And it's not finished yet, the spire still has more then 80m to grow and when all the netting will be removed it will also be more transparent. That the ratios are a bit off makes it even more interesting to look at.

The words of a person who secretly thinks I am right and feels singled out for being called stupid for thinking it was nice...

Compared below to someone with an a differing opinion, yet feels justified in his beliefs. And believes he is right without taking it personally.

Now this guy Momo knows how to respond in these threads and deserves respect.
