Yes, pity the poor taxi drivers, trying to get their head around that lot.

First off if you're going to visit Tokyo and Tokyo region only, DO NOT get a JR Pass.

But if you want to take the new Shinkansen E5 to Shin-Aomori, then do get the JR Pass!!

I plan to visit sometime within the end of 2011. What's the problem with the JR Pass (so I could keep this in mind when I visit Tokyo)?

569m now not long til its topping out just wondering, where is the extra 5m going to come from? all the lifts so far have been aprox 10m, is there a shorter one, 5m or a longer one, 15m?

I think there's a 10m, with a 5m gap to the base of the mast.

If you only visit Tokyo the Japan Rail Pass is simply not economical, but if you plan a daytrip to Kyoto with the Shinkansen it's already cheaper then a normal return ticket.

The area around it is "Shitamachi". It's good they finally get something like this instead of Yamanote.
