Does the platform on top serve a functional purpose? Or is it purely for aesthetic purposes? The diagonal support struts holding it up Seem like they could hold a big load.

I had a while time to visit this thread; Tokyo Sky Tree is up to 600m height? Seems almost T/O

Hi all.

Hi sock.

You bet - for the height to tip measurement. The height to architectural top won't include it though as it is 'functional-technical equipment'.

So the 634 won't change as the figure used to rate structures by the CTBUH (the height to arch. top) but the height to tip will be ~637.

Thanks for the info.

The damper sits below the currently constructed top platform right? That's why I'm wondering about the massive beams holding up the top platform. Is there a purpose to the roof being a larger diameter and having massive support struts jutting out from the sides of the tower? Either way, architectural or functional, that's one massive antenna array below it!
