They did not receive from the supplier the model of Antenna (particular model) to fill that section so they decided to move to the next one (where there's a different antenna type). We'll have to see what this means in delaying the known schedule.

Luckily they have some time to spare, a little delay won't be a big problem.

Great job, Tokyo, nice to see that the engineers and builders have managed to stay on schedule, unlike the building of Freedom Tower in New York.

LOL at the "turrets" placed throughout the building, I know it doesn't mean the same thing as a mounted-gun type turret, but if it was, it would probably be for shooting down any planes that get too close.

Tokyo's Sky Tree 'blamed for spike in road deaths'
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...ad-deaths.html
Quote:
By Julian Ryall in Tokyo 11:13AM GMT 07 Feb 2011 Japan's Sky Tree, which will stand at at 2,080ft upon completion, making it the tallest self-supporting tower in the world, has been attracting admiring glances from ground level, especially among motorists, who are apparently taking their eyes of the road and colliding with pedestrians.

According to local authorities, the huge construction project is bringing thousands of new tourists to the Sumida district of the city. While the influx of business is welcome, more vehicles - including tourist buses - and the eye-catching broadcasting tower have conspired to drive driving fatalities higher.

There were 41 deaths in the four wards closest to the tower last year, up 12 from the previous year.

Designed to be the new tower for terrestrial digital broadcasting throughout greater Tokyo, and replacing the venerable - but at 1,092ft much smaller - Tokyo Tower, the Sky Tree will have public observation decks and will be lit up every other night with different sets of lights.

The completed tower will have curves that are meant to represent the blade of a samurai sword and other features found in traditional Japanese architecture. It is the centrepiece of a larger urban regeneration project that will include plazas, shopping and entertainment facilities and parks alongside the Kitajukken River.

the driver's could have at least stopped instead of accelerating while viewing the tower. Stopping and backing up traffic >>>>>>>>>>>>>> accelerating and taking someone's life

But anyways tokyo sky tree is a behemoth. You really get to feel how huge it is from up close. I'm not there but from the up-close images it feels like I'm standing near a rocket.

02/09 Blog round-up

Winter in Tokyo....

http://tokyo2ndtower.cocolog-nifty.com/blog/

... is a thin layer of snow on the roofs.

Weather in Tokyo is also a clear sky in the evening.

The spire also grew a bit again.

Any planned development around the tower? As it stands now it certainly dominates everything in the area.

There are a couple high-rise redevelopments close-by, but nothing exceeding 100m. There's also a scheme to make the neighborhood around the tower the tower a bit more attractive, but also nothing big. It's going to dominate the area for quite some time.
