if above 450 m. it is a tv antenna, then it is actually not 2003 feet. But it could just be decorative, I wouldn't know

Above the 450 meters is the digital antenna, and it counts for the height because it's an integrated part of the structure since that antenna is whole reason why this structure is being build.

Simple answer, NO. Unless you have superman vision and can look at Korea and Russia, about 950 km from Tokyo.

A great tower in a great city and hopefully it will prove to be the start of further development near by. Usually towers can't stand alone, asthetically speaking, but this one is great by itself, a true landmark!

Lot of people working, lot of machineries. This is going to be fast and efficient. IMHO

This tower is planned to finish 2 years before the Freedom tower so it should pass that one to finish it on time. But this tower is just a bit more easy to construct, the trains run next to the project and not directly under the tower just give an example.

Indeed, it has to be built quickly. I believe the deadline is 2011, or else Japan doesn't get digital broadcasts! It will be quite a sight to watch this go up.

12/23 update, progress progress progress, and thanks to the Japanese blog culture we will be able to see the progress of this tower every single day. Although I'm not going to post the pictures every single day.

But you should for at least this month as Christmas is time of generosity, unless you could give me link to this blog.

I know that the USA have a turned a bit backward the last few years, but don't forget that in the rest of the world there's something called "technological innovation". In other words, in Asia earthquakes aren't a reason why supertall towers shouldn't be build.

技術はあるので本当は地震はあまり関係ないと思います。
日本は建てた後の採算がとれるかに拘るんだと思います。

taipei 101 is only 200m away from earthquake fault and architects don't care because they've got a thing called 'pendulum' (counter weight or damper or whatever people like to call it)

It looks tiny compared to the building itself but its a tiny 660 tonne steel pendulum.
