Geez, lighten up.

If it really was a problem they wouldn't be building a 158m tall tower directly next to the Sky Tree. It's also tall enough to transmit the signals over the 200m skyline around Tokyo Station just 5km away, a couple of towers (between the Sky Tree and the city won't be a problem. And again, it's all theoretical. There are currently no plans for any tower far over 100m in Sumida-ku while there are plenty in other parts of the city.

btw, where are you from?

Out of curiosity, do they intend on taking that junk off of the spire, or are we going to be stuck with it?

That 'junk' is the main purpose of the tower.

The less cranes it has, the better it looks.

The picture was taken at the "Shitamachi Tanabata Matsuri", it's a festival in the streets of the Taito ward between Ueno Station and Asakusa. This road is that vorks out just before the Senjo-ji temple complex in Asakusa.

I don't the details of the picture, the data has been removed by the photographer and he didn't say in his blog post.

I'm sorry if this question has already been asked and answered but I'm wondering if those spaces on the spire that didn't have antennas attached are ever going to get them. It just looks a little odd, particularly on the lower part, because it's thinner than the sections above. Thanks.

I don't think anyone asked it directly, in fact I was also wondering. But then I remembered that the height of the tower was increased from 610m to 634m. I guess they just increased the height to increase the height and not to create more space for extra antennas. Leaving the open spaces on the spire as it is now.

Will the open spaces ever get antennas? There will always be new antennas for new technologies that will have to be put on the tower at some point in time. They got the space to do it without having to remove the other ones and that's always handy.

Has there been any mention/press releases of prices upon opening for the observation pods yet?

TOKYO (NQN)--Tobu Railway Co. (9001) on Tuesday said it has set the admission fee to the No. 2 observatory of Tokyo Sky Tree at 3,000 yen.

The second observation deck is about 450m off the ground.

Visitors to the No. 1 observatory, about 350m aboveground, will pay 2,000 yen. The elevator ride from the fourth-floor lobby to the first observation deck will take 50 seconds.

The broadcasting tower, which is currently under construction in Tokyo's Sumida Ward, is scheduled to open May 22, 2012 and will take visitors from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Tobu Railway estimates 5.4 million people will visit the tower in the first year, falling to around 2.7 million from the fifth year on.
