I saw this when flying out of Haneda for New York. It really dwarfs everythingaround, and just generally looks fantastic!

Maybe it's because there are no other buildings around to compare it size too. If you put this thing in say New York or Hong Kong, you'd KNOW this thing is big. Since there aren't many tall buildings around it, you can't really tell. Same goes for the Abraj Al Bait in Mecca :p

Not much change recently, so not that much to update.

But here's a new blog update anyway where I tried to find pictures with different and new perspectives but that's difficult the last few weeks. O well, it won't be too long before I can shoot some pictures of the tower again... until then:

Man, that thing is massive! Reminds me of something that would be in a Final Fantasy game or something.

They will announce the location of the observation deck very soon. Stay tuned. They might install some windows where people can look out and see Tokyo, but this is a wild rumor at this stage.

Hi,

I apologize if you have clarified this a hundred times in the past, but what's the status about the (possibly) missing antennas on the base of the very top section of the tower?
Looks kinda imbalanced the way it is now. Can they be added without the support of a crane or are they just canceled?

It's indeed been asked a couple of times, but as often that I can redirect you to one of the previous pages. Therefor it's no problem to answer once again.

Halfway during the construction the height at completion of the tower was raised from 610m to 634m. This was done by extending the antenna spire. This was not done to add more antennas to the tower, just to make it bigger.

In the future it should be possible to add some more antennas, just like it would be handy to replace antennas if it's needed. I think it can be done without a crane, by using some sort of jacking system that is attached to one of the platforms between the antennas. We'll have to see in the future how they will actually do it.

When will this officially open? I will be in South Korea for a year and would love to take a gander from the top--preferably when there isn't an earthquake *_* So anyone know when it will open?
