Jan can do that.

Thought it`s like the spire of Burj Khalifah, normal people can`t go there but they invite special people like Imre.

Hi all.

Of course there is access to the platform on top. There is a safety fence around it. I would think it would be limited to authorized personnel only.

Someone has to be able to access the top to service the red lights up there.

The top is accessible by a staircase, you can see it in this cut out from picture taken by myself.

It comes out on the right of the white part of the top in this picture (not taken by me):

And the last tower crane is gone. Now we have to wait until the small crane is taken down.

And 1 picture from 10/27 that clearly shows all the antenna's that have been installed the last few weeks.

I like this tower and all, but I have never understood why there are so few -or none- trees in the streets of Tokio. That would improve air and life standards so much.

I don't know why you say that there aren't trees in Tokyo since most of the bigger streets are aligned with trees, just not always big tall trees. The smaller streets you see from above in the picture are too small to have many trees, they don't even have a sidewalk. But if there's a bit of space you will find trees or greenery, everywhere in these very dense parts of town. And the city is working on a program to plant even more new trees. That will improve the air quality and life standards that are already very good, especially for a city this size.

Tokyo technically has more green space than NYC and even London, if you click my tokyo thread in my signature you can see tokyo at street level.

Though one reason in particular is that sky tree is located in the "east side" of Tokyo...the "working class" area...or you can say "poor" area (but not slum, tokyo doesn't really have any) and tends to look much more industrial than other areas of Tokyo. That is also why you see no skyscrapers in this area.

Your not going to find much greenery when you have that much density.

thanks Momo1435 and NihonKitty for your explanations.

It's good to know the city is planning to plant trees. I know that in Japan space is vital - I guess that is why some part of the city do not even have sidewalks - but I also think that it would be so much better to have more greenery, not just in public parks or wealthy areas.
