i get the impression that the steel core is not the overall width of this monster,so looking at the pics this site is really going to get very crowded, everything is on top of each other.

Have you been to Tokyo yourself? If so, you should know what I mean! It's not like this tower is so far away from Tokyo that the view will be the same as the one from the Yokohama Landmark Tower. Remember, from Odaiba, Shinjuku is little less than 10 km away, but it's still very well visible. I'm sure the view from the Sky Tree will be astounding, all the red aircraft beacons everywhere around you.

To save you the trip to google translate, it's not the Shinkansen but these are regional express trains. Some of them like this one have a very streamlined appearance, but their top speed doesn't come even near the Shinkansen. The train on the picture only has a top speed of 130 km/u and it doesn't even reach that in normal service.

Anyway, back to the tower. No growth on the tower today, but instead they put a bit on the building in front of it next to the train line.

IT'S A RACE AGAINST TIME!!!!

Digital switchover coming up in 2011 and from-the-beginning small budget draining quickly!

I'm quite interested in seeing street-level pictures of the surrounding area. Is it a lively neighbourhood?

I've been to Tokyo and it is my understanding that this site is near Asakusa, but still I see nothing familiar.

Is it near the Asahi building?

Hi all.

Great progress on this tower and even better coverage by the photogs in Tokyo. This one is gonna be a treat to watch grow. I've added the Sky Tree to my list of structures that I watch and save pics from.

Thanx to all the photogs - keep up the good work.
