No offence to any Tokyo or Japanese residence or fans but these "TV Towers" to me junk up the skyline. I think Tokyo needs a signature tower before it does anymore Communication Towers. S:

is this crane specially built to withstand earthquake? Because I rememeber the crane toppling off the top of Taipei 101 when it was last hit by an earthquake.

I don't know for sure, but since it's a Japanese designed crane you can safely assume that it can withstand an earthquake. But if the earthquake at just the wrong time, for example if the crane is climbing or if it's the big one then anything can happen.

As I said before, they carefully prepared against earthquakes using computer simulation. The mast was made 15% stronger to withstand them, and the crane can withstand a 100m/s wind. In unusual case, who knows?

I asume that is the central core of the tower, btw that is a great looking crane.

I just have a question, what are the engineers using at the base of the building to calcel off earthquakes? like shock systems or damps?

To Momo1435:

These tower cranes are not JCC-720S, but JCC-720A, because of tower
(see http://www.rogiken.org/heavy/ccs/iuk...720a-01-1.html vs.
http://www.rogiken.org/heavy/ccs/iuk.../v720s-01.html)
