Come on page 64! All those pictures take too long to load. Nice to look at, but...

This one? This gate serves to control the river level as well as to purify the water. The ward office is thinking of converting it into a lock so that sightseeing boats can go through it to the tower, but it's still just a vision.

I do believe that the surroundings of the tower quite fit the idea, with water and greenery, I like it! Maybe a paper model for the Sky Tree should be made as well ^_^

There are some great updates in Tokyo Sky Tree tower. The exterior grid does not look like temporary, but i cannot say that is for the cladding later...
What is that, and will be cladding?

today, or better yesterday since it's 0:23, anyway 2009-05-19

Finally I went to see the construction of the tower for myself.

My first view of the tower when I stepped out of exit B2 from Oshiage station.

With the next pictures I can show you how the towers is being build right now.

On the ground level new sections of the core are assembled, see the white parts on sticking out above the netted scaffolding.

When it's completed it's being raised onto the next platform, just like this segment that was already lifted up there.

Then the main cranes will lift the parts to their place on the tower.

Over the outer scaffolding for the outer steel structure into it's place.

Look there's still a gap in the core.

But the builders are already waiting

here it comes

almost there

making sure it doesn't move out of place just before it's joined.

And the gap in the core is gone.

There's an infocenter on the tower just across the road from Narihirabashi station. The main attraction for foreigners is the model, all the other info is in Japanese.

the base of the tower, compare it with 2 pictures above and you will notice that all the scaffolding and the green steel structure are temporary.

Here's an angle that you won't see to often, the guard didn't like that I was there. But he's was a nice guy and wished me a good day.

I decided to climb the stairs of a 12 story high apartment block.

btw, Narihirabashi station probably won't be extended, since the main station for the tower will be Oshiage station on the other side of the site. The metro/train station (the metro becomes a train at this point) got already 2 platforms with 4 tracks, that should be enough to handle the crowds. It's more then the closest station to the Tokyo Tower.

sorry I couldn't resist.

They are using very efficient assemblage methods...no wonder why they're progressing so fast!

Momo1435, that was a very explicit explanation!

This Tower is absolutely amazing. The fastest construction i have ever seen.

The three edges of the tower will join very soon to one big structure. Do you think the next part will already do that job?

I was checking for some renderings some pages back (for my paper model) and seems that around pages 46-50, some pictures of the tower have been replaced with other showing random people, can a moderator check it please? Seems someone changed the links

Momo, you went there, too! When I was there, I was not patient enough to stand there watching the process ongoing. Great job.
