Still, Tokyo doesn't have a slum, literally. There are areas where it looks like a slum, and guess what, those houses are filled with PlayStation3, AIBO-like robots, 3.5/4G phones, hightech toilets, streets are litter-free and sewege or garbage smells are completely absent.

Well kind of but not really, it's been a bit mixed. The one day it's beautiful weather, the next day it's raining cats and dogs (like yesterday). And the weather forecasts are even worse, they change every 12 hours or something. But that's Japanese weather for you, with the sea all around it can change suddenly.

I must say that the only place this year that had a sewage smell was in Harajuku along the big road into Omote-sando, you can hardly call that a slum. And the crows sometimes pick open the garbage bags, even if they are placed under the nets. And there's also special community initiatives to clean up all the rubbish in public places, and that's also needed since it's not like people don't throw anything on the street at all. But yes, for the rest it's a pretty clean city especially compared to other big cities in the world.

Ever heard of the "Paris Syndrome"? It's when Japanese people go to Paris and realize that it isn't the complete romantic place that they imagined it to be from how the city is portrayed in the Japanese media.

But honestly, Tokyo is nothing like Paris. Tokyo isn't really like any other city on this planet, you have to actually go to really see how it is.

And the tower, no big changes since the last update, although there was an update of the info boards around the building site.

Updated diagram for May, it's now 49 meters high. And what I understand is that this month it will grow to 60 meter, so don't expect a big jump.

and a picture looking down from the crane from a while ago when it was just 36 meter high.

I'm thinking that it will only be for the part where the three pillars don't touch each other yet, so it stop soon.

Yeah and just like Tapei 101 it will look even higher because the buildings around it are only up to 12 stories or something. It will look enormous
