You know what, there was this documentary called "TOKYO MONSTER" on NHK World Premium that gave a glimpse on the future of the development of Tokyo in the next few years.

This upcoming tower was one of the main features. It's really interesting IMHO

This thing is flying up!! Great to see in such times! The scaffolding surrounding the structure alone is becoming MEGA big in it's own right.

It kinda resembles the tower in Schiphol international airport in Amsterdam:

The design of the observation deck looks similar.

Yes, the top of the Schiphol tower does look a bit like the Skytree's 1st observatory.

It is interesting that Tokyo Sky Tree has reached that level... from the last time i checked, a real huge progress.

Yep, awesome progress indeed! Can you even imagine how precise all the individual pieces have to be?!

Will the individual scaffolding be placed at each joint? I mean all the way up? Will the lower scaffolding be removed before the tower is finished?

I will assume all will stay as the tower rises, then a mass dis-mantling to reveal the completed structure.

I was wondering the same thing but it seems like once the work is completed on a particular joint there wouldn't be a need for the scaffolding to remain and maybe they could just move that scaffolding upwards as the work progresses. Otherwise the amount of scaffolding required would be enormous. I also am curious if the lower wall of scaffolding that surrounds the structure will need to stay in place. This is a very complex construction and it's going to be interesting to watch it go up.

What a view of the construction site the occupants have from those buildings in the foreground. They certainly could take some amazing photos from there....
