Until not long ago there was a picture of an old design for the Sky Tree in the 1st post that had far more similarities to the Eiffel Tower then the current design. Now the picture in 1st post has changed the "it looks like Eiffel Tower" posts also have stopped.

And the Sky Tree is build in the central area of Tokyo, before the war the area that is now the Sumida ward was the most populous area of Tokyo. And was very much the old center together with Asakusa on the other side of the Sumida river. It was only destroyed twice in short time during the great Kanto Earthquake and during the American air-raids. After the war it didn't retain it's former glory and became just one of the 23 special wards in Tokyo. The Tokyo Sky Tree could revive the area again to make it a popular spot to visit again, for Japanese people and for tourist.

Distance Monte Vesusio - Napoli --> 9 km.

is it the same? For me not.
Absolutely right!

Never heard any Tokyo inhabitant saying that Fujisan is the Tokyo symbol.

BTW, thnks for keep posting Momo!

Ah, very true. I know ginza and the areas just around the Imperial Palace were the "shitamachi" in the Edo period, but would that also have included the Asakusa area, even though it is much farther north?

Somebody recently ask if it's always good weather in Tokyo.

8/31 picture and gif, with the influence of a nearing typhoon.

fine.ap.teacup.com/chaojiroko/

Because of the weather there was no visible progress on the early pictures on Tuesday 9/1 compared to the day before.

But pictures that were taken later on the day show that no second day was lost.

Dude, you need to have a broader mind and see the bigger picture.

Tokyo tower's significance will diminish quickly.....

What the heck are you talking about?

Why would TTs significance diminish quickly? It's a symbol for Tokyo since the 50s.

Would Eiffeltowers significance for Paris "diminish quickly" if they'd build a new 600m tower next to it? For sure not.

(They tried with Tour Montparnasse, but failed miserably. Just as Sky Tree will fail miserably to outclass the Tokyo Tower.)
