The only thing that sucks about the tower, is the fact that the tower is not already under construction.

New design

================================

KINGKEY FINANCE & CULTURE CENTER,
SHENZHEN

The Kingkey Finance & Culture Centre is set within what is currently a very densely developed area within the centre of Shenzhen. The existing urban fabric of the site is defined by a semi organic agglomeration of small scale development packed tightly onto every available piece of land. TFP's masterplan was designed to re-organise the site into an efficient and considered use of the land, enhancing both the aesthetic quality of the area and its long term sustainability as a productive land area within the heart of the city. The scheme, composed of a landmark tower, serviced apartment building, and retail mall, successfully incorporates this 21st Century mix of development into highly efficient and flexible spaces. And through its use of human scale volumes, landscape and natural light, the office landmark tower provides a pleasant and enjoyable working environment of the highest quality.

much better design for Shenzhen. Fits the landscape better and adds more diversity.

every city needs a box, even if it is an oddly shaped one.

Big tragedy. Former design was just perfect. This one is just so so.

Wow what a cop out....this new design isn't a patch on the old one. Extremely disappointing.

I like the new design as a building but it does look too much like Hong Kong's ICC. They should go back to the original design, that one was perfect for Shenzhen.

Noooooo.... thats a real shame, well..... lets cross our fingers the original design won't be thrown into the trashcan but will be used on a different location. I really hope so.

Cannot believe this, although the resdesign isn't that bad but lacks the curves and orginality of the original. It also doesn't look that tall too. Another resdesign flop.

The original design was a really elegant tower and everyone likes it.
The new design is just...normal, and it looks shorter as well. I guess the reason for the new design maybe lower construction cost and higher profit because the original design was so thin( with a width/height ratio of 1:10 ) that it may not provide enough total floor area.

NOTICE:
I am not completely sure whether they have changed the design or not. I just found the renderings and description of the project on the Terry Farrell and Partners (Kingkey's designer) website. It can be that the projects on their website is not updated and this is an old design of Kingkey.

Let's hope the "original one" is the final design. We need more information on that btw...
