Work on integrated terminal T2 will start with the demolition of terminal 2A....new gates which are being installed are all going to be demolished later when phase2 of T2 will start....as for the domestic terminal new one which is 1C (under constrution) will be converted to LCC...

The Way Ahead

According to immediate plans, Terminal 2A, which is the most active terminal and hosts majority of the airlines, will soon be shutting operations completely and will subsequently be demolished altogether. This calls for a relocation of operations from Terminal2A to Terminals 2B and 2C, to service the grow*ing number of international passengers during the period in which a New Common User Terminal is being constructed.

Facilitating the relocation of services are extensive ongoing interior works in T erminal2, landside works viz., constructing a new multi-level car park and a single flow entry-way; addition of three passenger boarding gates and a new improved security sys*tem among other things. There will be a total of 17 to 24 aircraft passenger boarding bridges to expedite smooth transit and save time. The estimated annual capacity of this facility is proposed at approximately 12 million international passengers.

Mumbai's CSIA reports increase in passenger traffic to 25.8 million in 2007-08

Mumbai International Airport Pvt Ltd (MIAL) said that the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) had recorded a passenger traffic of 25.8 million (17.88 million domestic and 7.98 million international) for the period April 2007 – March 2008, representing a 16.25% increase over the corresponding period last year.

Commenting on the passenger growth at CSIA, GV Sanjay Reddy, managing director, MIAL said, ''The consistent and healthy year-on-year growth in passenger traffic at CSIA, attributed to the strong demand in air travel reinforces our position as the busiest airport in India and one of the busiest in South Asia as well. Even as we handle these ever increasing numbers, our priority remains to deliver an exceptional and memorable experience to passengers at CSIA.

While building CSIA into a world-class airport that Mumbai will be proud of, we at MIAL acknowledge the need to be prepared with not just with an expanded capacity, but effective utilization of our existing facilities as well to meet this ever increasing rise.

No you're not

Well its just that as of now they've dug-up most of the area to the right of runway 27 beside the domestic terminal 1A to make a new & bigger terminal. But thats about it.

u think? i think it has added some competitive tension. witness the effect on the mthl. it got delayed because of bureaucratic shenanigans, but we now have just a 10 year lease as opposed to the earlier 75 year lease.

HDIL gets govt nod for airport slum rehab project

HDIL has received the government’s approval for the airport slum rehabilitation project, reports CNBC-TV18.

Sarang Wadhawan, MD, HDIL said that the additional FSI and TDR would accrue to the company as a result of the clearance. 65000-80000 tenants would be rehabilitated under the project, he said.
