I think EH are the subject of too much unjustified flack on this issue.
Without running the risk of repeating others, EH are an advisory body and have little power outside of there remit.
From this flip flop on TBP i would lay the 'blame' for all this stalling squarley on the shoulders of your elected members. They dont seem to be able to satisfy the needs of all the interested parties (for which compromises are inevitable) and i suspect there is political point scoring going on.
I think you are giving EH more 'credit' for preventing schemes than there are actually due. They should be well down this list of canditates when directing your frustrations and as pietari says i think you should be looking at your planning commitees first and foremost!!

This isn't about tall buildings freakery, you must remember EH idea of what a tall building is.. anything a little taller than its neighbour.. and an absolute definition of anything of 8 storeys.

The whole issue is about developers being able to provide sufficient development in order to make enough money... to do this they often use good materials... unless they are restricted to building tat by heritage freakery!

Those hotels are shite, but they are shite because they could lnly buld a certain size, meaning lower ongoing income fromthe building from the tenenets, so leeses etc are compromised.... downward spiral.

Enforced shortening of development of these sites means less quality materials and lower grade architecs... usually so compromised actually that they have to use design build engineers instead!

Hows that for building and maintaining a quality environment?

The whole issue is to provide high quality builings suitable for their purpose that enhance a quality of life. Developers making money is a way down the list not No. 1.

The hotels could have been built away from the waterways on and across the Dock Rd. Putting that stadium there is ridiculous. EH did not make the final decisions BTW, and have no real power as such.

The wrong sort of developments are on some of these sites. Kings Dock could have been, with the docks excavated of course, leisure and retail and some residential. The Hotels could be off, or skirting the site on the Dock Road to have a water aspect to one side, or some could be semi-circular so maximum exposure of rooms to the waterways. A hotel can be right on the quay and across the Dock Rd too. They are just crap, ill thought out, cheap and nasty developments. The whole dock waterways legacy is being wasted for tat. No vision, no idea. Liverpool Vision? What a misnomer.

The ground hog day type mantras are also tiresome but we can all be a little obsessive at times, we can all be a little offensive or overly thin skinned too, but John is unique in his level of idiocy, disregard and disrespect of others...

He has that supreme and insufferable arrogance that only the truly thick can maintain - I've had enough of the idiot!

Can we have a poll to see if I am the only one who wishes to take such a drastic step?
