Go forage in your neighbourhood eco-store or summat then

Its called progress you luddite and shopping malls can indeed be beautiful architecturally, aesthetically and are the Cathedrals of commerce.

The Poles are making some great new malls by the looks of things. I really have to get to Poland soon.

Just about every mall in this thread is much nicer than any mall I've ever been to. I'm very impressed.

Warsaw's Golden Terraces mall looked great when I was in Warsaw in September. When did it open? There was also a great looking mall in Krakow when I went, that was being constructed.

Kanyon in Istanbul is gorgeous. There are some really beautiful lines in that mall.

The Golden Tarraces Mall was opened one month ago.

The one you mentioned in Krakow must have been Galeria Krakowska Mall. I personally really dislike it. It's nothing spectacular but it's located in the place where only some spectular things should be located - in the heart of Krakow...

Some pics of Galeria Krakowska, Krakow:

Extremely poor architecture from the outside:

Even poorer from Pawia Street side No visible connection between the mall and the street - everything is inside and the street remains just an artificial space imitating living, commericial street...

A bit better from the inside: Elegant, but nothing breathtaking...

To show you its location: You can see dominating Main Railway Station and then The Mall

........................................................................................................
and yes, Stary Browar/The Old Brewery in Poznan, Polish 5th city is my fav. It is located exactly in the middle of the city too, next to its historic quarter. There had been an brewery once upon a time on this site and some of the walls remain still the same. Everything else has been obviously added. There is totally new, second part that is now being under construction. It's not only a shopping mall, there are some galleries, museums, offices, music clubs, pubs, open public spaces etc.
The first part has been already presented on the prevoius page, but couple pics anyway:

The new part:

The older part on the right side behind the towers, and the new, much bigger part on the left.

and once upon a time it looked like that:
