To think this was one of my favourite builds, it just doesn't fit in with the surroundings, and when it's complete I don't think i'd like it as much as it should be in the renders. Of course you might say that renders are completely different from the end product but I guess I was just hoping for too much, at least for a rival against the Shard anyway.

you are forgetting that 2 black buildings were built in the 1970's that became some of the most well known structures on the planet, the John Hancock building and the Sears Tower in Chicago, completed in 1970 and 1973 respectively.

in the case of Montparnase, I think its just that Parisians dont ever want any change. one only needs to remember the outcry over the pompidou and the louvre addition.

I like the shape and cladding... doesn't look bad. Adds brightness to a gloomy sky.

Imo the cladding's color is exactly what makes the tower unique and incredibly beautiful.

Yes, the urban context was as well then the main reason of the outcry but that's not what you read in touristic guides . The little defect at the top which was then totally unoticed... has been solved with new works since !

So, pay attention to the color (to which I'm personally indifferent in both cases) !
The end about it AFAIC

Is this the start of the setback?

Nice picture, old and new together.

Since they restarted the cladding, it's really taking off. This one is going very quickly. I can't wait till we finally know what its final height will be.

While the other towers get problems, this one is growing further and further.

As far as I know, the MCT hasn't ever been on hold. They've been building it 24/7 for 3 years. Keep it up!
