Does a single day ever pass in this thread without someone dragging on the Shard vs MCT (or London vs Moscow) debate? Don't people have the slightest clue how annoying that is?

Great link.

Q: What is the color of the planet Mercury?
A: from Earth mercury is a reddish orangery color. But it is actually a light shade of gray.
Soooo... I get your point.
The Mercury City Tower is actually of the same color as the Shard.

I have to say that this is rather unaesthetic. It really doesn't fit that well there. The cladding itself is smooth and good but the color....Federation towers are masterpiece compared to this chunk that in its design resembles something from 70/80-ties futurism.

You don't follow the main stream of the critics here. The colour is interesting, but the cladding is not smooth.

From certain distance it looks smooth enough. Of course you'll see the difference if you stand 10m away but that's that.

Purple also can be interesting but nobody would color Empire State building purple just because its an interesting color. It doesn't fit in skyline well, maybe in some far eastern asian or indian city.

It will either turn out spectacular, or Las Vegasy. I still do not know which one! Some pictures look nice, others not. While I know the above picture looks gold, in real life under most light, it's just not harmonius with the rest of that block. Look how Trump stands out:

Imagine what Mecury City will look like as a piece of Moscows' skyline.

Most of the posts in this thread are bizarre. Which skyscraper cluster in the world is colour coordinated? For sure not Manhattan, La Defense or Hong Kong to name a few.

You must be joking? Moscow is far more dense than London if you compare the cities..of course it must be so because Moscow is much bigger and have more inhabitants per km2 than London!

I didn't say anything about coodination. Color, size, or shape. What I said was that you can be different and still be harmonius. Mozarts musik is harmonius. Add a wrong note to the middle and it stands out, everyone notices it! There is a yellow and black building in lower Manhattan.
http://wirednewyork.com/forum/showthread.php?p=317225

It stands out and I'd say it is different, but not harmonius. Beekman is 'different', but fits Lower Manhattan in its' own way.

Imagine putting Trump Las Vegas in London, just as an example of going a little too far.

Also, I said "I still don't know how it will turn out". Will Mercury City enhance the whole Moscow skyline, or stand out as 'too different'? Time will tell.
