Why does there always need to be a ''best skyline''. What is it based on? Does it look nice? Does it need to be tall? Most clusters? Best balance between old/new tall/small? Density? Amount of buildings in the skyline? In most cases there is no ''best'' skyline because it's mostly a matter of taste. There is no best skyline in Europe.

All that you mentioned... and maybe more... Skyline is a spectacle, it's beauty and quality are in the eyes of a spectator.. but some are just more spectacular than others. Since they are all different, or not equal, it is OK to have your favorite one. And if more people choose the same one as their favorite, there will always be claims to "best skyline".

I look at this skyscraper and see the mixture of all the Russian architectural traditions. It is obviously a Soviet constructivism, a vanguard architecture which inspired modern American skyscrapers. It will fit nicely into the Moscow's complex skyline together with Stalinist skyscrapers repeating their gothic silhuettes and spires. It's gold, just like domes of Russian churches. Yet, despite what is said about it's golden cladding, mistakenly referred as the trend of 80s, it's quite modern and dares to forge all epochs and styles together in the simple and elegant form. It's not as tasteless, as chinese opulence of new skyscraper's shapes and forms, terribly mixed into the unintelligible mare of the patterns, tiring eyes. It's not as boxy, as Frankfurt, it's very organic. Bravo, Moscow!

I can understand the logic in your statement because there are many beautiful European cities that don't even have skyscrapers but their skylines are spectacular anyway for reasons other than the sheer height of their buildings so you do make a valid point. I would just suggest that because this website is devoted to skyscrapers as opposed to just beautiful architecture that there are many members here including myself who have a fascination with the modern design, engineering, and construction of very tall towers that present an imposing visual impact on the skyline of a city. So from that perspective, at least for myself, I do consider this collection of buildings to be the best skyline in Europe by far.

Wow! I've got to bookmark this mini blurb of yours that amounts to high quality architectural criticism! Quite well and masterly said! Congrats!

Sorry to be a nit picker, but Soviet Constructivism did not inspire American Skyscrapers, the real beginning of Soviet Constructivism was in 1919 with Tatlin's tower. In fact many would argue that constructivism was adaptions of the Chicago Skyscraper or even the Eiffel Tower

Really? I thought that it would be blue, or white like I've seen
in other threads. Black would be interesting though like the Sears Tower.

They spent recent days disassembling the crane - note how there is only one crane on latest photos instead of two.
