Clearly whoever designed it should go die in a fire

There is probably a reason why we aren't familiar with them!

Council Correspondance was sent out today. http://www.ourbrisbane.com/governmen...46031_0002.pdf
Doesn't look good. CPTED means crime prevention through environmental design.

Good, this proposal was rubbish. It lopped off the iconic clock, and the design was so ugly it stung the eyes.

And if refused it would allow that office space to hopefully go into a taller building!

Bad news for the developer however, after they have come this far, all it will take is some amendments and or possibly court decisions and it will get approved. I do have one bone to pick though, thats with the supposed sun blocking over King George square. I mean at some stage buildings need to go up and this one isn't that tall and what? would block a little sun for an hour or two during the day? It's not like it will turn day into night.
All in all i dont really care for this project other than it makes the current tower a bit better looking bar removing the iconic clock.

New plans were lodged on the 25th.
Now 103.2m to structural tip (126m RL), 91.8 to plantroom roof. Many of the issues of the previous design are not present: the facade is broken up, the shadowing is less than that of the approved apartment building, podium planting is present, fire stairs now open out to turbot street, the steetscape has been modified etc. Also note that the clock is present on all of the renders/plans. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Much better! And they kept the clock!
They even did some nicer renders! You can see it has silver glass now which always looks the goods! This thing could never be tall because of the square shadowing so all in all it's a decent glass tower now. I would lose that little bit that juts out since it detracts from the now crystalline form of the tower, but guess council wanted the facade broken up so it probably has to stay. All in all though, much improved! Good outcome! I got no probs with this going up now!

I'm getting confused, I thought this thread was to do with a redeveloping of the SGIO building (the one with the clock), but the pictures above are of a new building on what looks like the old theatre site, with the SGIO looking just the same as ever (but with a red racing stripe).

The thread is of both, as the redevelopment includes both buildings.
