UST Global, a California-based multinational company operating in the IT services and consulting space, has unveiled a novel continuing education initiative targeting management capability development for the IT workforce.

The UST MBA programme is a fully online management education programme customised for the new age IT professional, and is powered by ‘Max Value Univ' in partnership with the Bharathiar University.
DESERVING STUDENTS

As an extension of the programme, several deserving students from various institutions in the State will be provided an opportunity to earn an MBA degree fully sponsored by UST Global, a company spokesperson said.

In the first phase, the UST MBA programme would cover around 500 employees selected from the offshore centres of UST Global, offering them a chance to earn their MBA degree without a break in their career.

The company will bear the entire expense of the programme for its employees, and will also sponsor several students handpicked from the economically backward sections of the society to pursue higher education and gain a management degree through the same programme.

Thiruvananthapuram, July 21: Testhouse, a leading London-headquartered software testing and QA service provider, is shifting its Indian facility here to the Technopark campus.

To be located in the M-Squared building, this office will be responsible for Testhouse's activities in India and West Asian egion, said Mr Vijay Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of Testhouse India.

OFFSHORE ARM

The new facility will also serve as the offshore arm for the global operations of Testhouse, which has operations in North America, Central and Southern Europe, Asia-Pacific and West Asia .

The office of Testhouse in Technopark will be inaugurated by Mr Mike Nithavrianakis, Deputy High Commissioner at the British Deputy High Commission, on Monday next.

“We are seeing incremental opportunity arising from the trend towards independent third-party testing, where customers prefer to focus on their core activity, while outsourcing the testing function to a specialist,” Mr Kumar said.

In addition to the offshore work from global operations, the company expects inflow of work from the domestic market as also from West Asia. “We are confident our new facility within Technopark will help us serve our customers better through higher levels of productivity, whilst giving employees opportunities for personal growth and achievement,” Mr Kumar added.

The company has domain expertise in the banking and finance, Government, education, retail and telecom verticals. C

Customers

Customers include Barclays Bank, BMI Airlines, Dubai Municipality, Transport for London, among others. Testhouse also has partnerships with leading tools providers including Microsoft and Hewlett-Packard.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In an effort to identify budding technocrats, Technopark will conduct Tech Top-2011, a two-day innovation competition, for students of engineering colleges from across the country that will start on Friday. The sixth edition of the event will provide a chance for students to display and demonstrate their product prototypes. The winning team will win the ‘Degree C Award’ with a prize money of ` one lakh. All projects selected after final screening shall be eligible for incubation support from Technopark, where they can convert their innovative ideas into a commercial venture, said a press release.

This year, 216 teams from 14 states participated in the preliminary round, out of which 58 teams were selected. From this, 19 teams were shortlisted to demonstrate their projects in the two-day event. The event is jointly organised by Degree Controls Inc, with the support of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and Executive Knowledge Lines.

G Madhavan Nair, former chairman of ISRO, will inaugurate the event at 9.30 am on Friday at the Travancore hall, Technopark. Chief Secretary P Prabhakaran will be the chief guest for the valedictory at 3.30 pm on Saturday at the same venue.
